Warming up for Alien and Native Reptiles

On a warm and sunny Good Friday, I spotted this Red-Eared Terrapin basking on a log on Thrupp Lake, a long way from its native southern USA. No doubt this individual was bought as a pet and then dumped when it got too big - apparently they are becoming quite widespread in England for this reason. Also on same day our first Grass Snake of the year was found on Barton Fields - a bit earlier than last year, but a good month later than Tony Rayner's patch in Cholsey this year.
