The wet ending to February continued into March with 8.2mm on 1^st but then remained largely dry until 9^th. The temperature on 1^st dropped from 7.9°C to 6.3°C then crept up to 11.5°C on 5^th. Nights were cold with slight frosts of -0.7°C and -0.4°C on 3^rd & 4^th, the days beginning with early fog. These were the last frosts of the Spring.

The high-pressure conditions with light north-easterly winds continued until 9^th – 11^th when three wet days arrived, the rain adding up to 16.9mm.

After one dry day on 12^th showers returned with just 9.6mm falling between 13^th – 16^th. The temperature had crept up to 16.1℃ on 14^th, the warmest day of the month (shared with the 21^st). There was much cloud but a few sunny periods.

A settled period from 17^th – 25^th continued the mild conditions with days remaining in double figures as they did for the rest of the month. However, over half of the month’s rain came during the last six days, adding up to 47.6mm. The final total rainfall for the month was 86.1mm, well below the record in 2023 but second wettest since 2018.

The weather for March consisted of two dry and two wet periods with a lot of cloud overall. It was mild; 2.15°C warmer than my 30-year average and the mildest since 2017.
